Their Challenge
GAIL's is a fast-growing national bakery chain selling premium handmade bread, pastries and barista coffee. We have been proudly working with them since 2015.
They try to keep food waste to a minimum, wasting as little as possible and donating the surplus to 95 local charities.
As GAIL's makes everything fresh on-site, they produce a lot of material every day, and they wanted to recycle as much of this as possible to improve their recycling rate.
They also wanted to educate their staff on best recycling practices to minimise contamination.
First Mile's Solution
We provided GAIL's with a dedicated account manager to oversee their recycling and waste services. This included setting up separate bins for different types of waste and providing staff training on how to properly recycle.
Our team also provided interactive recycling workshops for all new stores, and with 28 stores opening in 2022 alone - we now service 104 locations.

In 2023 Gail's recycled 34% more Mixed Recycling than the previous year.

By recycling their waste with First Mile, GAIL's has prevented the emission of 10,578 trees worth of CO2 into the atmosphere.
