Brompton Bikes
Their Challenge
Brompton has been manufacturing folding bikes in London since 1975. We’ve worked with them at their headquarters, since 2020.
They are famous for their iconic folding bicycle design and are currently the largest manufacturer of bikes in the UK, producing around 50,000 per year.
Part of Brompton’s mission is to create products that give more to the planet than they take away. Reducing waste as well as recycling is key to reaching their goal of becoming a net-zero business by 2050.
First Mile's Solution
We tailored solutions to fit Brompton's waste needs, which we identified by completing an audit of their waste.
We then offered a bespoke solution for recycling redundant bicycle batteries, as well as a solution for their plastic strapping on boxes which were not able to be widely recycled - resulting in a higher recycling rate.
We also hosted several recycling workshops and engagement days to improve awareness among Brompton colleagues. This prompted feedback for staff on recycling ad-hoc items which we were able to support with.
