AllPress Espresso

Their Challenge

Founded in 1989, Allpress Espresso have been roasting speciality coffee for over three decades. They do this at their roastery in east London, whilst also serving the locals at the adjoining Café.

As a producer of coffee, Allpress Espresso wanted to ensure that as much of the waste coffee they created was recycled.

Being a multi-use site brought unique challenges such as how to effectively manage different types of waste from their café, roastery and storage unit. 

First Mile's Solution

To ensure as much coffee waste was recycled as possible we implemented a dedicated coffee grounds recycling stream at the AllPress Espresso cafe and roastery.

All Press also implemented ten recycling streams including mixed recycling, food waste and general waste. Flexible, daily schedules ensure that there is no build up of food waste and other materials at their busy cafe.

For the waste from their storage unit, the Allpress team have a direct First Mile contact to book in same day, ad hoc sustainable clearances for cardboard and other materials as and when they are needed such as after large deliveries.

Gold Recycling Standard 

In 2023, Allpress successfully attained a Gold Recycling Standard, with their impressive 91% recycling rate. To achieve Gold customers need a recycling rate of 80% or more, and have at least four waste and recycling steams in place.
